Responsibilities

Writes, edits and posts content across multiple channels, serving as a reporter/storyteller for University Advancement’s stakeholders, initiatives and events. This includes many different forms of content, such as feature stories, proposals, print collateral, electronic/digital communications, publications, presentations, thought leadership, speeches, social media content, newsletters, video scripts and more
Serves as a liaison between University Advancement and University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) and the Office of the President as campaign branding and campaign case statement are developed and refined as well as to ensure consistency of messaging, brand, voice and style on all content creation. The position may also serve as a liaison between University Advancement and Belmont’s excellence clusters, including academic excellence, aspirational excellence, partnerships excellence, athletic excellence, operational excellence and financial excellence, as the campaign spotlights the many facets of Belmont
Develops impactful content with compelling calls-to-action to inspire philanthropy and drive web traffic/search engine optimization (SEO), engagement, leads and conversions. Ensures all content is on-brand, of consistent voice, grammatically correct, connects with audience and tells Belmont’s best story, every time
Supports the coordination of division-wide marketing and communication projects through calendar coordination and internal partnerships. Educates University Advancement staff on communication strategies and provides tactics to engage with donors and volunteers
Proactively seeks to communicate Belmont’s mission, vision, values and aspirational aim and the Hope Transforms case statement to diverse audiences with the highest quality and effectiveness to demonstrate the University’s transformative impact on lives and communities. Work with the UMAC team to ensure that content is shared and repackaged for different media and across multiple storytelling channels. Recommend photography and videography to enhance content
Analyzes content to optimize and improve effectiveness as well as to distribute and leverage for maximum impact. Keeps current with best practices in advancement, alumni relations and marketing communications
Demonstrates advanced writing, editing and proofreading skills. Follows Belmont’s editorial and branding guidelines. Proofreads for accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar and editorial style

Required

Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic databases and software
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
1-3 years communications and/or marketing experience required

Preferred

4-6 years experience is preferred
