Sr. H&H Design Engineer
Craftwater is a company focused on empowering staff to create actionable information through innovative engineering and science approaches. They are seeking a Senior H&H Design Engineer to lead civil/water resource design projects, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality project delivery while maintaining efficiency and meeting industry standards.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Development of full civil/water resource design projects from concept to construction bid including preparation of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates while controlling schedule and budget
Teaching and mentoring project engineer level production staff
Assist project manager with keeping projects on track by understanding next steps and proactively planning and executing upcoming tasks
Preparation of proposals and project scope write-ups for new pursuits
Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D (MicroStation is a plus) software to create civil construction documents for water resources design projects. Project work will involve grading, hydraulics, hydrology, site layout, soil erosion and sediment control and utility / infrastructure designs
(Preferred) Performs detailed Hydrologic studies including, but not limited to: 1) reconstitution of storm and floods to establish rainfall-runoff relationships, 2) regional frequency analyses, 3) discharge-frequency and precipitation-frequency analyses, 4) reservoir system simulations and routing, 5) calibration of rainfall-runoff models, 6) debris and sediment estimates, 7) reservoir yields, 8) development of probable maximum floods, standard project floods and n-year design floods and 9) local County hydrology procedures to determine peak flow rates and hydrographs for n-year storm events
(Preferred) Performs detailed Hydraulic and sedimentation studies including, but not limited to: 1) analysis of complex flood hydraulic problems using advanced 1-, 2-, or 3- dimensional hydraulic models, 2) design of super- and sub-critical flood control channels and levees, 3) design of debris basins, dams and other hydraulic structures, 4) analysis of river sediment transport characteristics with advanced 1- or 2-dimensional sediment transport models, 5) scour analyses
Provide necessary design, coordination, and follow-up on work to ensure quality standards are met and efficiency levels are maintained
Demonstrate commitment and organized approach to work and willingness to ask questions
Commit to the various duties necessary to advance Craftwater’s qualifications and reputation in the industry
Employ critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to formulate engineering solutions to challenging problems and achieve new technical and professional goals

Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in civil water resources design
Possess a California PE License (Multi-State licensure is a plus)
Bachelor's degree in environmental/civil engineering, hydrology or related field
Experience in the development of construction documents (PS&E) for water resources projects
Working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling
Working knowledge of stormwater management and drainage infrastructure
Proficient technical writing skills and ability to translate complex findings into graphics
Strong time management and organizational skills
Proactive nature
