Seasonal Engineering Equipment Operator
The National Park Service is seeking a Seasonal Engineering Equipment Operator for the Roads team at Denali National Park and Preserve. The role involves operating and maintaining heavy engineering equipment on varied terrain, while also performing manual labor for road features installation as needed.

Responsibilities
Operates and maintains a variety of heavy engineering equipment including bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, dump trucks, tractor, and trailers with a GVWR up to or exceeding 50,000 lbs. on varied terrain
Incumbents may be required to work at odd hours, at night or very early in the morning
Other duties as required by the position may include manual labor to install culverts or other road features
Operates, maintains, and repairs a variety of heavy engineering equipment including graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, excavators, roller/compactors, gravel screening plants, and tractor and trailers with a GVWR up to or exceeding 50,000 lbs. on steep and varied mountainous terrain
Incumbents may be required to work at odd hours, at night or very early in the morning
Other duties as required by the position may include manual labor to install culverts or other road features

U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
You must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake and combination vehicle endorsements at the time of application
A current medical examiner's certificate with no disqualifying offenses is required by the anticipated entrance-on-duty listed in this announcement
You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
To qualify for this position, you must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake and combination vehicle endorsements, at the time of application

Special knowledge or expertise concerning the park's or preserve's natural and/or cultural resources and the management thereof is required

To be eligible your resume must clearly show periods of time having lived or worked in or near the area of consideration
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles including graders, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and excavators
Ability to keep work materials neat, clean, and in order
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc
Ability to operate safely
