Responsibilities
Assist foresters at Moshannon State Forest in meeting annual timber harvest goals
Collect GPS data and analyze timber sale details
Mark and count timber and contribute to regeneration projects
Employ GIS technology to create maps for various purposes
Conduct GPS surveys to define boundaries for timber sales, herbicide application areas, and planting projects as directed by a forester
Gather stand analysis data to support silvicultural treatment proposals and input this information into relevant analysis software
Prepare reports for the foresters
Create maps for timber sales and regeneration initiatives using GIS
Participate in the marking and counting of timber in accordance with Bureau guidelines to aid in the preparation of timber sales
Qualification
Required
An associate's degree in forest technology; or
Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent
You must be able to perform essential job functions
