PE Licensed Senior Mechanical Engineer - MEP Design

MDA Edge is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead their MEP design team. This role involves managing the full project lifecycle and delivering energy-efficient HVAC and plumbing solutions across various sectors, while also mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Engineer of Record for mechanical and plumbing disciplines on assigned projects
Provide technical and managerial leadership to the MEP design team from project initiation through completion
Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing plans to ensure on-time, within-budget, high-quality project delivery
Lead the design, development, and verification of HVAC and plumbing systems, including performing and reviewing load calculations
Oversee Construction Administration (CA) activities: review submittals and shop drawings, respond to RFIs, attend and lead CA meetings, and perform field observations/site visits
Plan and execute detailed project phases, ensuring all work meets quality standards and client expectations
Lead design and construction meetings with stakeholders, providing clear guidance and ensuring effective decision-making
Mentor and guide junior team members; assign and review design tasks as needed; provide objective, periodic feedback to support career development and annual reviews
Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts and fee proposals; monitor contract compliance throughout the project
Foster relationships with clients in collaboration with business development teams to support repeat and new business opportunities
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Current Professional Engineering (PE) License
Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Professional Engineer
Ability to obtain PE licensure in Texas if not already held
10+ years of MEP design experience, including work in municipal/aviation, education, healthcare, and commercial office environments
7+ years of experience managing MEP design projects
At least 3 years of direct project management experience
A minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience leading an MEP design team
Valid Texas driver's license, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and ability to successfully pass a background check (criminal, education, and drug screening)
