Unit Chief, Recruitment and Certification

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking a Unit Chief for Recruitment and Certification to oversee teams responsible for recruitment, certification, and related services. This role involves developing tools and collaborative relationships to enhance DHCS' recruitment and certification programs.

Responsibilities

Directly oversees teams responsible for providing services including, but not limited to recruitment, certification, and Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS) to internal partners and the public
Provides expertise in the development and review of DHCS’ recruitment and certification programs, initiatives, and related activities
Creates and develops tools to support recruitment and certification team members, DHCS hiring units, and DHCS applicants
Advises and develops collaborative working relationships with internal partners, including but not limited to DHCS hiring managers, personnel liaisons, and HRD team members

Required

Describe a time you applied HR policies or laws in recruitment, hiring, or equal employment opportunity. Include what you did and the result
Describe a time you led and motivated a team through a process change. Explain your approach and the outcome
Please describe your leadership style, providing specific examples
Candidates who do not complete and submit an SOQ may not be considered for this position

Preferred

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve desired results
Experience in developing and implementing HR related process improvements for an organization
Experience developing communication strategies for large audiences with diverse needs
Knowledge and ability to coach team members on customer service principles and practices
Experience leading recruitment and outreach activities that support diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to develop recommendations and implement changes to HR processes consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and rules
