Responsibilities
Perform required maintenance duties including:
Repair, patch and pave city streets, trails and parking lots
Repair and maintain storm water utility infrastructure
Responsible for snow and ice control as assigned on a plow route
Installation and maintenance of roadway signs
Assure proper operation of street and signal lights and components
Maintain boulevard grass and weed control
Tree trimming, removal and disposal
Maintains and inspects storm sewer catch basins, ponds and drainage ways for proper working order
Other assigned duties as assigned
Operate and assist in the repair of vehicles and equipment used to perform assigned duties
Perform assorted assignments within the public works area as needed to insure the safety and protection of City residents and their property
Responsible to work overtime, shift changes, or be on call as necessary or assigned
The ability to locate underground City owned utilities, i.e. storm sewer, street lighting, and traffic signal infrastructure
Maintain an acceptable safety record
Qualification
Required
High School graduation and vocational or apprentice training in mechanics or equipment operation
A minimum of one year of experience operating light and/or heavy equipment and performing other maintenance functions is required
Must have a valid Minnesota Class A commercial driver's license or be able to obtain one within 6 months. (The City will assist in obtaining.)
Able to work during emergency conditions and adverse weather conditions
Must be proactive, responsive, and a self-starter
Possess character traits that support being part of a team and exhibiting a positive attitude and leadership, while also working independently
Must comply with organizational and department policies
Must pass criminal history background and driver's license checks
Preferred
An associate's or two-year technical degree is preferred but not required
3 years experience
