DOC Public Safety Shared Services Fixed Assets Property Control Accountant

Responsibilities
Maintains property control records in the Statewide Accounting System for the Illinois Department of Corrections
Reconciles the Statewide Accounting System on a regular basis
Receives daily transactional documents for property control, verifying accuracy and timely processing
Assists with the fixed asset physical inventory process
Assists with the fixed asset physical inventory process
Responds to audit request inquiries
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Qualification
Required
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification
Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited
Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department
Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer
Preferred
Prefers at least five (5) years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience
Prefers a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance
Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and/or similar type of computer programs
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience using a Statewide Accounting System
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience working with inventory reports
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience working on a physical annual certification of inventory
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience tracking assets for a medium to large size organization (500 or more employees)
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience with updating inventory records
