They are seeking a Lead GCP Data Engineer to take ownership of complex data projects, lead hands-on initiatives, and help clients implement secure, scalable GCP-native data architectures.

Responsibilities
Lead Critical Projects – Own design and delivery of secure, scalable GCP data platforms across enterprise environments
Stay Hands-On – Build data ingestion pipelines, optimize BigQuery workloads, deploy transformations, and debug complex data issues
Technical Strategy & Architecture – Drive architectural decisions with a focus on reliability, scalability, and ML readiness
Mentor & Uplift – Share expertise through code reviews, pairing, design docs, and guiding other data engineers
AI/ML Data Enablement – Build foundations for Vertex AI, feature stores, vector databases, and model-ready data
DataOps & Automation – Implement orchestration, CI/CD for pipelines, and reusable patterns that improve velocity and data trust
Security & Governance by Default – Embed standards for lineage, privacy, access, and compliance from day one
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Be a trusted advisor to client engineers and stakeholders, connecting business needs to technical outcomes
Qualification
Required
Proven GCP data engineering expertise including BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Cloud Storage, IAM, and data governance tooling
Strong SQL and Python skills for data processing, automation, and testing
Deep experience with modern ELT - particularly DBT for transformation and modeling best practices
Understanding of batch + streaming patterns, event-driven architectures, and data product thinking
Strong security mindset including data encryption, access controls, and sensitive data management
Experience with DataOps principles: CI/CD for pipelines, data quality, and observability
Familiarity with Terraform for data platform provisioning (KCC/Pulumi a plus)
Ability to explain technical trade-offs to both engineers and business stakeholders
Enterprise experience in high-security or regulated environments
Natural mentor with a collaborative mindset and a high technical bar
Self-starter who makes decisions, tests assumptions, and iterates quickly
