Director of Accounting
CFS is a well-established nonprofit organization in Pittsburgh seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee its financial operations. The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing all accounting functions, ensuring financial health, and leading a dynamic accounting team.

Responsibilities
Direct and manage all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger, fund accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and student or client billing as applicable
Lead preparation, review, and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with senior management and department leaders
The Director of Accounting will ensure accurate and timely reporting to leadership, the board, and external stakeholders
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to foster a high-performing and collaborative team environment
Manage external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors
Establish, maintain, and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
Evaluate financial systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements to optimize efficiency and accuracy
The Director of Accounting will perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, including financial management in a nonprofit environment
Experience with nonprofit organizations, endowments, or higher education financial management
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite required
