Responsibilities
Performs the duties of one of the skilled trades, such as carpentry, electrical, electronics, plumbing, HVAC, welding, painting, etc., to maintain all clinical and non-clinical facilities equipment and furnishings
Duties may include repair work, Preventative maintenance routines, new maintenance projects, facility maintenance, etc
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in one of the trades and two (2) years of journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of building operating systems and facilities
Two (2) additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of completion of an apprenticeship program
Positions in this class may require one of the following licenses: carpenter, or; electrician, or; HVAC, or; plumber License, or; welder
Valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required
Knowledge of codes, laws and regulations governing area of assignment
Knowledge of basic mathematical computations
Knowledge of systems in area of assignment and how systems interact and relate to one another
Certain positions require knowledge of electronic equipment, video surveillance systems, televisions and VCRs, public address systems and master antenna systems
Knowledge of schematic diagrams
Knowledge of building schematics including electrical lines, alarms and electrical boxes
Knowledge of building structures, codes and standards such as American Disability Act requirements and fire codes
Knowledge of department and hospital safety practices and procedures
Knowledge of patient rights
Knowledge of infection control policies and practices
Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials
Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures
Skill in applying techniques used in one of the semi-skilled trade functions
Skill in reading and understanding technical manuals, blueprints and schematics
Skill in creating schematics for work completed
Skill in handling emergency situations
Skill in handling hazardous materials
Skill in using equipment and tools used in performing the skilled trade function assigned to
Skill in installing and servicing equipment
Skill in using equipment and hand tools such as amprobes, digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, meters, circuit testers, hydrometers, screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, drills, saws and levels
Skill in communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties
Skill in efficient, effective and safe use of equipment
Mobility to work in a shop, mechanical room, or related maintenance environment, including the operation of typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment
Mobility to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites
Stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for extended periods of time
Stamina to work under adverse environmental conditions for extended periods of time
Vision to read printed materials and VDT screens
Hearing and speech to communicate effectively over the telephone, radio and in-person
Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects
Preferred
Healthcare experience a plus
Experience with electrical, (High Voltage, Generator, ATS), low voltage, plumbing/HVAC and electronic repair
Possess a valid NEC/ICC electrical card and or a Clark County Journeymen plumbing license
