Electrical Specialist Valley
Salt River Project (SRP) is one of the largest public power and water utilities in the U.S., providing electricity to approximately one million customers in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area. The Electrical Specialist will support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of electric energy by performing various power plant electrical tasks and other maintenance and operations duties as required.
Energy
Responsibilities
Maintenance of switchgear, switchyard, boilers, turbine/generators, motors, pumps, fans, compressors, electrostatic precipitators, flue gas scrubbers, relays and relay systems, Programmable Controller systems, Distributed Control Systems and other electrical control devices
Utilizes available documentation, drawings and schematics to identify and troubleshoot problems
Repairs/replaces cables, electrical insulation, and electrical components as required
Performs preventative maintenance work and provides feedback for follow up work and maintenance program improvement
Performs job preparation and layout utilizing vendor data, drawings, and other available information
Competent and responsible use of hand and power tools
Operates forklifts, hoists, mobile and gantry cranes as required to perform duties
Performs necessary rigging in connection with assigned duties
Performs troubleshooting of electrical devices and systems utilizing drawings and diagnostic tools
Efficiently uses computer technology to operate work management systems, to access work orders, input historical data report time, and order parts
Provides training for other facility personnel in identified tasks
Employee performs in a leadership capacity, including assigning, overseeing, directing and taking responsibility for the work of other classifications
Other duties as assigned
Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of an SRP Electrical Apprenticeship program or equivalent skills and knowledge
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to pass an SRP Electrical Specialist job knowledge test for candidates who are not currently an SRP electrical specialist and have not successfully completed an SRP Electrical Apprenticeship program
Must complete a job function questionnaire
Experience as an Electrical Specialist in Power Generation
High School, GED or Equivalent
Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent
Physical Agility Test
SRP Journeyman Plant Electrician Job Knowledge Test
