Responsibilities
Lead and empower managers and engineering teams, ensuring strong performance, engagement, and professional growth
Shape the direction of the engineering organization by setting expectations, guiding team leaders, and supporting day‑to‑day operations
Apply sound engineering judgment to review work at a high level, ask the right questions, and ensure teams stay aligned with technical and program goals
Oversee staffing needs by partnering closely with HR and Talent Acquisition on hiring plans, interview processes, and candidate selection
Balance engineering resources across multiple programs, resolving conflicts and ensuring critical projects are adequately supported
Develop and maintain departmental plans, including workforce projections, staffing reports, and organizational updates
Serve as a key communication link between engineering teams, program leadership, HR, and executives, ensuring alignment across the business
Represent the engineering department in leadership meetings, presenting updates, identifying challenges, and driving resolution
Qualification
Required
Proven success leading engineering organizations, including direct management of engineering managers and large, diverse teams
Strong leadership presence, with the ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable while maintaining trust and respect
Experience shaping engineering organizations, including org design, workforce planning, and scaling teams as business needs grow
Ability to operate confidently at the organizational level, navigating matrixed environments and collaborating across departments
A solid technical background that allows you to understand engineering challenges, support decision-making, and communicate effectively with senior engineers
Hands-on involvement in technical hiring, including partnering with HR, participating in interviews, and guiding headcount strategy
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, resolve conflicts, and present to senior leadership
Preferred
Aerospace industry experience is highly preferred, and familiarity with hypersonics programs is a strong advantage
