Unit Secretary

Presbyterian Living is an independent, non-profit senior living care organization offering a full continuum of care. They are seeking a dedicated Full Time Unit Secretary for the Skilled Nursing Department to handle clerical responsibilities, manage patient records, and assist nursing staff as needed.

Responsibilities

This position floats between nursing units and carries a pager to be contacted by unit staff when there is a need for unit secretary services
Handles telephone communications, takes action or delivers messages as necessary
Assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned by nurse
This includes but is not limited to initiating and participating in activities on an 'as needed' basis
Handles clerical responsibilities associated with admissions and discharges and notifies appropriate departments
Takes photographs of residents at admission for MAR and those at risk for wandering
Prepares and keeps current activity boards and other logs as assigned
Maintains patient records, compiles new charts, thins charts as needed and insures adequate supply of chart forms and admission packets
Dismantles current charts of discharged patients and dispatches closed out charts to Medical Records Dept
Schedules appointments for residents, completes required forms, and arranges for transportation as needed
Maintains listing of patients’ schedules for therapies and clinic appointments
Orders supplies for nursing units, i.e. medical, food, kitchen, and general supplies
Stores items received from storeroom in proper storage area
Is aware of Presbyterian Living Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concern for the well-being of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies

Minimum of one year experience
Secretarial or clerical experience
