Vice President of Operations (Commercial Concrete)
PTS Advance is a company specializing in commercial concrete construction, and they are seeking a Vice President of Operations to oversee large-scale projects in the Houston market. The role involves managing operational strategy, workforce management, safety, project execution, and financial performance.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all operational functions for commercial concrete projects, including planning, scheduling, logistics, and execution
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to company quality standards
Develop and implement operational processes, best practices, and productivity improvement strategies
Provide executive oversight to project managers, superintendents, field teams, and equipment/logistics personnel
Oversee large structural concrete packages including cores, podiums, elevated decks, and high-rise vertical construction
Establish project sequencing, pour schedules, material requirements, and manpower planning for complex concrete operations
Troubleshoot technical issues related to forming systems, pumping operations, concrete mix designs, and high-rise logistics
Monitor job cost performance, productivity tracking, and forecasting for multiple projects simultaneously
Collaborate with estimating on new pursuits and provide constructability input on high-rise projects
Drive profitability through efficient resource allocation and strong operational controls
Build, mentor, and develop strong operational teams including PMs, superintendents, foremen, and field leaders
Forecast labor needs and lead workforce planning, hiring, and retention strategies
Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
Champion a culture of safety across all job sites; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
Maintain rigorous quality standards and ensure all work meets engineering, client, and code requirements
Work closely with clients, general contractors, engineers, and trade partners to ensure smooth project delivery
Represent the company with professionalism during meetings, site walks, and executive-level discussions
Qualification
Required
10–20+ years of experience in commercial concrete construction
Proven track record delivering high-rise concrete projects (mid-rise or high-rise towers, podiums, parking structures, large mixed-use developments)
Experience leading teams of project managers, superintendents, and field crews
Strong technical knowledge of structural concrete systems, formwork, equipment, scheduling, and heavy logistics
Demonstrated success in operations leadership roles: Ops Manager, Director of Ops, VP of Ops, or similar
Preferred
Experience working for a large commercial concrete subcontractor or self-perform division
B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (not required if experience is strong)
Proficiency in project management systems (Procore, CMiC, Viewpoint) and scheduling tools (P6, MS Project)
