DMV- Program Coordinator I
The N.C. Department of Information Technology is dedicated to enhancing the economy and vitality of North Carolina through efficient transportation services. The Program Coordinator I position involves providing customer-friendly services to the public and assisting with the necessary documentation for IRP customers, including account openings and renewals.

Responsibilities
Provides customer-friendly, courteous, and informative services to the public and IRP customers
Assists with customer-facing IRP customers, completing the correct documents needed for opening new accounts and renewals
Assists IRP customers with supplements, updating insurance, turn in tags, collecting payments for 2290’s (Federal Heavy Use Tax), confirming payments, collecting payments for yearly renewals, For Hires and Supplements
Updating name changes for individuals and for business entities and transferring plates and/or title work
Reviews City, State and Federal documents
Explains the mandatory requirements for proof of residency requirements to customers
Reviews fraudulent or altered materials
Contacts utility companies to verify proof of residency
Reviews lease agreements and insurance certificates to make sure that they are following IRP international requirements
Responds to telephone and email inquiries from customers, insurance companies, the public and motor carrier authorities
Processes incoming mail from customers and responds to renewal packets and submitted payments
Reviews the websites of North Carolina Secretary of State, Federal Motor Safety Administration and cross referencing the USDOT and Motor Carrier numbers
Requires responding to customer inquiries regarding Unified Carrier Reg (UCR) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and providing customers with contact information that they will need for said matters
Maintains a detailed and accurate accounting of all cash, checks, money order and credit/debit cards transactions
Balances and reconciles a cash drawer at the end of every workday
Conducts all title work and all other transactions pursuant to the Motor Vehicle General Statutes, DMV rules and regulations, and the Privacy Protection Act
Receives reviews in state and out of state finances packages that are utilized by IRP customers to purchase/lease motor vehicles
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical and administrative skills
Extensive knowledge of the North Carolina General Statute's, policies and procedures, and regulations that govern the issuance of a North Carolina title
Experience in the International Registration Plan Unit
Working knowledge of vehicle title and registrations
DMV customer service experience
Experience applying or explaining Motor Vehicle General Statues and DMV rules and regulations
Preferred
Experience with Microsoft applications and/or mainframe databases
Experience in board customer service dealing with a diverse clientele explaining information
Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and/or evaluating information or data
Experience reviewing information to determine compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations to resolve a complex or special processing matter
Experience in balancing a cash drawer
