Senior System Engineer
Metric5 is a small business with big company benefits, and they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join their dynamic IT team. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining critical IT infrastructure to ensure its reliability, security, and scalability.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage core infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment, with a strong focus on AWS
Administer and maintain Windows Server operating systems, including Patching, Group Policy, and accreditation
Manage and support our CI/CD pipelines and version control system using GitLab
Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues, providing support and guidance to junior team members
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance
Manage and resolve technical issues reported through Service+ trouble ticket management system, ensuring timely and effective resolution
Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
Provide after-hours support as needed
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer or similar role
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
CompTIA Security+ certification
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM
Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration (2016, 2019, or newer)
Demonstrated experience with GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipeline management
Proven ability to manage a high volume of technical issues using a trouble ticket management system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, etc.)
Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, etc.)
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Experience with OpenShift or other container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes)
Knowledge of the SAFe Agile framework
Experience with Service+
AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cloud Practitioner)
Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud)
Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
