Director of Retail Operations
New York or Nowhere is seeking a Director of Retail Operations to lead and scale the operational foundation of their retail business. This role is responsible for overseeing store operations, inventory flow, and retail execution while ensuring consistency and an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities
Own and evolve the retail operating strategy across all locations
Establish, maintain, and enforce operational standards, SOPs, and best practices
Provide leadership and strategic direction to store Managers and teams
Ensure consistent execution of brand standards, customer experience, and operational excellence across stores
Oversee store openings, remodels, and major retail initiatives
Act as the escalation point for complex operational challenges
Oversee inventory accuracy, replenishment, transfers, and shrink across all retail locations
Partner with operations and logistics to optimize product flow and stock levels
Lead operational planning for product launches, drops, and peak periods
Build, lead, and develop the retail operations team, including store managers and teams
Create training frameworks and operational playbooks to support scalable growth
Foster accountability, performance management, and a strong operational culture
Serve as the primary retail operations partner to merchandising, planning, logistics, and marketing
Translate company initiatives into executable in-store strategies
Ensure seamless communication between corporate and retail teams
Own retail operational KPIs including sales productivity, inventory accuracy, shrink, and labor efficiency
Analyze performance trends and identify opportunities for process, system, and cost improvements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to support growth and profitability
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of retail operations experience, including multi-store leadership
Proven experience leading teams and scaling retail operations for a growing brand
Deep understanding of store operations, inventory management, and retail systems
Strong strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution
Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills
