Lab Tech II
The City of Battle Creek is looking for a lab tech II to perform laboratory related activities involving industrial surveillance, sampling, testing, and analyzing of water, wastewater sludge, and/or soils. The role involves preparing solutions, conducting analyses, and assisting in research related to wastewater treatment and water pumping techniques.

Responsibilities
Prepares standard solutions and reagents
Collects soils, sludge, water, and/or wastewater samples on a scheduled basis. Conducts field measurements of flow and other physical and/or chemical parameters
Conducts and interprets specialized laboratory analyses. Prepares test records, sampling containers, charts, reports and statistical analyses. Maintains sampling data and field analysis records
Performs instrumental analysis of water and/or wastewater in coordination with chemist or other senior employee. Sets up and performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment, apparatus, sampling and flow meter equipment
Assists in research and analysis of wastewater treatment/water pumping techniques and practices. Communicate lab test results to operations staff so they can make appropriate adjustments, if necessary for proper operation of the plant
Performs computer entry
Performs duties for the Industrial Pretreatment Program
Qualification
Required
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in chemistry, environmental science, or related field
Up to 1 year experience as a laboratory technician
Must successfully pass laboratory related skills test
Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
