Responsibilities

Lead substation projects from conception to commissioning
Collaborate with Early-Stage Project Managers and Development teams to define engineering scope in the conceptual phase
Oversee external Engineers of Record (EOR), ensuring compliance with interconnection agreements, project specifications, and industry standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE, etc.)
Develop scopes of work, secure bids, and award contracts for engineering services via the Integrated Supply Chain group
Coordinate site selection, permits, and engineering data with stakeholders
Source and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services; support cost estimating with scope assumptions
Represent Engineering & Construction in meetings, providing progress updates and risk mitigation strategies
Work with Transmission Services to review interconnection studies/agreements and maintain communication with transmission owners, operators, and ISOs
Manage long-lead material procurement to control costs and schedules; assist in purchase request preparation
Contribute to cost estimating improvements through project feedback
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to set priorities and responsibilities
Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution per company and industry standards
Support commissioning, regulatory filings, and OEM design adaptations

Required

Extensive experience in substation engineering and project management in power or renewable energy
In-depth knowledge of high-voltage substation design, interconnection processes, and relevant standards
Proven skills in managing consultants, contractors, and competitive bidding
Strong communication and coordination abilities for cross-functional and external stakeholder engagement
Experience with equipment procurement, risk mitigation, and regulatory processes
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
Willingness to travel for project needs

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
