District Services Coordinator
New Trier High School District is seeking a District Services Coordinator to provide leadership and oversight for programming that supports students with emotional disabilities. The role involves managing program development, supervising faculty, and ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements while collaborating with various stakeholders to create effective learning environments.
Responsibilities
Oversees all programming and services for students with emotional disabilities, ensuring alignment with district expectations, best practices, and legal requirements
Designs, develops, and monitors therapeutic program structures, curriculum supports, and behavioral systems that meet the diverse needs of students
Collaborates with related service providers, mental health teams, and outside agencies to ensure consistency and coordination of services
Oversees the New Trier Learning Center (NTLC) program and supervises the NTLC Department Chair and faculty, ensuring consistent implementation of the program’s therapeutic, academic, and behavioral structures
In conjunction with the Director of New Trier Learning Center, ensures NTLC provides a highly structured, small-class therapeutic environment that integrates individualized instruction, emotional regulation practices, and academic support aligned with New Trier curriculum and expectations
In conjunction with the Director of New Trier Learning Center, monitors NTLC programming to ensure students receive appropriate academic modifications, access to social work services, and therapeutic strategies to support their academic success, return to general education environments when appropriate, and preparation for post–high school goals
Collaborates with NTLC staff to review student progress, placement decisions, transitions, and reintegration plans
Collects and analyzes program data to evaluate effectiveness and support program improvement
Maintains communication with outplacement sites, monitors progress, and ensures compliance with district expectations and IEP requirements
Provides guidance to administrators and teams regarding placement decisions and appropriate levels of support
Leads and manages outplacement processes for students with emotional disabilities, including referrals, communication with families, and collaboration with outside programs
Coordinates articulation processes for students entering the district from grades 8 to 9 and transitioning into the Winnetka Campus
Collaborates with sender schools, case managers, families, and district teams to ensure smooth, well-planned transitions
Oversees the transfer and implementation of IEPs, service plans, and relevant behavioral or therapeutic supports
Serves as the Primary LEA for students in therapeutic programs and ensures legal compliance in all IEP meetings
Facilitates evaluation processes, placement decisions, and service design in collaboration with building teams
Ensures timelines, documentation, high-quality IEP development, and procedural safeguards are consistently followed
Supports, develops, and supervises faculty and staff assigned to Therapeutic Services
Conducts evaluations of certified and non-certified staff in accordance with district procedures
Provides coaching, professional development, and ongoing support to staff who serve students with emotional disabilities
Fosters a positive, collaborative culture among staff working within therapeutic programs
Works closely with the Executive Director of Special Education, building administrators, and district leadership to ensure therapeutic programming aligns with district goals
Communicates regularly with families regarding programming, services, and student needs
Serves as the district liaison to outside therapeutic programs, community mental health partners, and agencies serving students with emotional disabilities
Maintains current knowledge of therapeutic practices, behavioral interventions, and legal requirements
Oversees logistical aspects of these programs, including facilities, transportation, and budget
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education
Qualification
Required
Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements; LBS1 or related-service credential preferred
Master's degree in Special Education, School Psychology, School Social Work, or related field
Experience working with students with emotional disabilities and knowledge of therapeutic programming, behavioral supports, and trauma-informed practices
Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and ISBE regulations
Demonstrated leadership qualities, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and administrators
Preferred
Administrative or principal endorsement preferred, or willingness to obtain
Qualified Evaluator certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
