Quality Inspector IV (1st Shift)
Kamatics is seeking an Inspector IV (1st Shift) who performs advanced inspection activities including first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of precision mechanical components and assemblies. This role supports production schedules, ensures compliance with engineering and quality standards, and provides technical leadership and guidance to inspection personnel.

Responsibilities
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of precision mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerances
Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections within assigned value streams
Identify and report surface, dimensional, visual, material, documentation, and workmanship non-conformances to engineering drawings and Kamatics quality standards
Create and maintain inspection documentation including IMS, First Article Inspection (FAI), and related quality records
Prepare products and documentation for customer or source inspections and serve as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative when required
Demonstrate mastery using basic inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, dial bores, chamfer gauges, and profilometers
Demonstrate mastery using advanced inspection equipment: optical comparators, Sunnen gauges, and Trimos height stands
Demonstrate proficiency using specialty inspection devices including Johnson tri-roll, sine plate, and torque gauges
Demonstrate familiarity with additional inspection equipment such as swing gauges, contracers, digital comparators, Cadillac gauges, and Keyence IM systems
Operate and program CMM equipment, including probe calibration
Demonstrate mastery in measuring GD&T characteristics including roundness, parallelism, concentricity, runout, perpendicularity, flatness, and total runout
Demonstrate proficiency in true position and material modifiers
Demonstrate familiarity with profile tolerances
Apply blueprint interpretation and advanced shop mathematics to determine appropriate gauging and inspection methods
Assign and coordinate inspection tasks to ensure production schedules are met
Provide training, guidance, and technical leadership to inspection personnel as needed
Use computer systems and software (including Microsoft Excel) to collect, analyze, and present inspection data
Maintain accurate records, logs, and audit-ready documentation
Recommend and support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S activities
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all safety and environmental procedures
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Minimum of 4 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent demonstrated experience
Expert knowledge of precision measuring devices, gauges, and testing instruments
Strong CMM operation and programming skills
Advanced blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation
Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to generate accurate inspection reports, certifications, and compliance documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP systems
Strong communication skills and customer-focused mindset
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet customer demands
Flexibility to work varying schedules as business needs dictate
