LEAD MAIL CLERK - WEST COAST DISTRICT OFFICE- NATIONAL CITY - FULL TIME (35+ HOURS)

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) is seeking a Lead Mail Clerk to oversee a team of Mail Clerks and Couriers in managing the receipt, sorting, processing, and distribution of mail and packages. The role involves ensuring work schedules are met, training associates, and maintaining postal regulations.

Information Technology

Responsibilities

Leads a group of associates engaged in administrative mailroom functions. Ensures work schedules and deadlines are met, passes on supervisor's instructions, assists in training, makes recommendations concerning work assignments, etc. Provides input to associate work performance reviews
Makes recommendations concerning new or revised office procedures
Picks up and delivers incoming and outgoing mail daily to and from the  U.S. Postal Service
Processes incoming/outgoing mail in accordance with established procedures and postal regulations
Receives articles to be mailed express delivery. Processes in accordance with established procedures and maintain copy of Express Mail Service receipts for reference
Sorts incoming mail for distribution to appropriate offices and Exchanges. Reads and routes mail to a substantial number of points or individuals
Operates a number of mail room machines such as postage meter, scaling, etc. Performs routine servicing of equipment and makes corrections to simple operational malfunctions
Collects, arranges and files a variety of documents/envelopes and maintains documents following established procedures. Maintains number control logs of documents received
Maintains various logs in connection with the postage machine, checks, RGRs, invoices, chargebacks, etc. Maintains a current locator system; renders directory service for mail
May operate a motor vehicle in picking up and delivering mail, messages, airline tickets, etc., in accordance with established procedures
Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Must possess a valid state driver's license or a valid commercial driver's license (CDL)
Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely
1 year progressively responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position
1 year progressively responsible experience performing clerical or administrative support duties or experience in a related area which demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position

Preferred

1 2 year academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 6 months of 1 year of general and 1 year specialized
