Responsibilities
Electrical System Design: Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and controls for mining equipment and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee the maintenance of electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, motor control centers, switchgear, and automation systems. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure safety
Project Management: Manage electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of electrical systems and processes. Implement changes to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical designs, maintenance activities, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Collaboration: Work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering teams to support production goals and address electrical issues. Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel
Technology Integration: Stay updated on the latest technologies and innovations in electrical engineering and apply them to enhance mining operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP) and strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and best practices
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time management skills
A strong commitment to safety, with experience in conducting safety audits and ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards
Preferred
Internship experience is a plus
Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA systems is preferred
