Mechanical Engineering Technical Support Specialist - OCU - Technical - 1st Shift
Cummins Inc. is a global leader in power solutions, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technical Support Specialist. This role involves preparing test articles for testing, installing instrumentation, and assisting in testing according to established procedures and methodologies.

Responsibilities
Assists in testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology
Prepare test articles and associated fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing
Demonstrates an understanding of the function of test equipment and the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of test results
Demonstrates knowledge of the functioning of the product under test to assess the contribution of the product to the validity of the test results
Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and setups and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Performs other duties as required
Disassembles and rebuilds production and experimental engines and components, measures and records measurements
Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness
Installs engines and components in test cells or test rigs
Fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings
Diagnoses engine and test cell problems
Configures and operates engines or rigs, measuring and recording data as requested, and performs preventative maintenance on engines, test cells or test rigs
Executes written work requests and reports on results in a specified format
Supports technicians and engineers as required
Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work
Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions
Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures
Participates in improvement projects
Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers
Maintains cleanliness within the workplace
Knows and complies with departmental safety policies and procedures
Demonstrates confidentiality as required
Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action
Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done
Qualification
Required
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
Must pass all related testing
Minimal relevant experience required
Role is required to periodically perform off-site work at nearby Southern Indiana sites as needed
Participate in lab initiatives (e.g., safety, quality/process improvement)
Preferred
School to work program experience in relevant field preferred
