Responsibilities

Develop and implement configuration management solutions for hardware and software implementation. Write and maintain system documentation
Data collection and evaluation of existing or proposed information systems
Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade hardware and software. Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs
Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase, and implementation
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration. Accept, resolve and close all assigned trouble-tickets in a timely manner
Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, to include software licensing as well as user access and security
Provides phone or email support to include hardware, software and server problems that can be resolved at tier 1 support (Help Desk Specialist), recognizes when to escalate to tier 2 support and record activity
Provide tier 2 support to level 1 Help Desk Specialist and provides held desk coverage and functions as necessary
Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems
Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current infrastructure
Provide training and technical assistance to City staff
Assists the CIO, Deputy CIO, Sr. Systems Administrator and other peers to administer and support Active Directory users and groups, file and print servers, quotas and permissions assignment, data management: file and email restores, mailbox creation and administration of email server. In addition to server staging and decommissioning
Responsible for proactive monitoring of assigned systems or devices and hardware support for server and data management systems or solutions. Responsible for City cell phone data administration and provisioning
Participates in special projects and may be assigned project manager duties for all new city facilities as well as renovation for existing city facilities; This includes planning and designing to determine I.T. needs, planning meetings with the Project Architect and Project Engineer, and negotiating contracts with selected and/or assigned vendors

Required

Associates degree, plus three (3) years of experience working with computers in a technical or business analyst role OR 5 years of recent experience with computers in a technical or business analyst role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 years of enterprise hardware/software implementation and support experience OR 7 years of recent enterprise hardware/software implementation and support experience
Knowledge of city wide supported hardware, software, and operating systems to include configuration and connectivity
Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol
Knowledge of Microsoft Operating system architecture to include server and PC
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and licenses, to include Office 365 Enterprise/GCC
Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software
Knowledge of Adobe products
Knowledge of Database Management System (DBMS) i.e. MS-Access and SQL
Knowledge of RMS/CAD operating system software
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange platforms in addition to AD on-prem/Azure
Skills in data record maintenance
Skill in working in an environment where multitasking and simultaneous tasking is common for resolution of issues
Skill in project planning, management, and control
Skill in training end-users utilizing correct IT standards and practices
Skill in troubleshooting server infrastructure issues using established procedures for assessing and resolving problems
Ability to learn and support new hardware, software, and operating systems
Ability to research information and to formulate effective conclusions
Ability to plan, test, troubleshoot, and implement system software
Ability to engage and direct small-scale projects and other pertinent business related to City computer, data and network infrastructure
Ability to determine computer problems and implement hardware and/or software solutions
Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of information systems and applications
Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications
Ability to review and analyze user requests; determine appropriate automation systems to meet their needs
Ability to conduct research, prepare reports and recommendations
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Knowledge of Microsoft Server OS 2019-2025, DNS, DHCP, Exchange and Active Directory services, O365, SharePoint, as well as VMware and SAN environments running VCenter/ESXI
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License immediately following employment

Preferred

Highly desired one of the following: A+, Network+, MTA, MCP, Microsoft 365 Certified or VMware certification
