CNC Programmer

Port Plastics is seeking a CNC Programmer responsible for developing, programming, and maintaining CNC machines for efficient production. The role involves creating CNC programs, setting up machines, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring quality control in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Develop and write CNC programs using CAD/CAM software based on engineering drawings and specifications
Select appropriate tools, cutting paths, and speeds for materials and parts to be machined
Set up and configure CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers, for production runs
Perform test runs and ensure the machines are properly calibrated and producing accurate parts
Diagnose and troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues, adjusting programs as needed
Optimize machine programs to improve production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize tool wear
Ensure all machined parts meet quality specifications and tolerances
Work with the quality control team to perform inspections and verify part accuracy
Maintain records of programs, tools, and production processes
Assist in routine maintenance of CNC machines to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations
Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production staff to ensure efficient workflow and address any production challenges
Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements and tooling upgrades
Count inventory, pull materials, and help with the warehouse as needed

Required

High School diploma or GED required
3+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., MasterCAM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
In-depth knowledge of CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers
Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
CNC: 1 year (Required)

Preferred

Associate's degree or vocational training in CNC machining or a related field
