Human Resource Manager

Responsibilities
Support the Executive Director in the development and maintenance of the employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures
Ensure organization-wide compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and nonprofit regulations
Manage policies related to workplace safety, ethics, and risk management
Design and implement systems that promote organizational efficiency and accountability
Ensure staff roles and responsibilities are current, clearly defined, and accessible to all employees
Lead recruitment efforts for part-time and full-time positions, including job postings, screening, and screening candidates
Oversee all aspects of new staff onboarding, including background checks, benefits enrollment, IT setup, and orientation/training on systems
Design and implement a comprehensive performance evaluation system aligned with organizational mission and values
Facilitate goal-setting processes across teams
Collaborate with supervisors to address underperformance and establish corrective action plans
Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts in a fair and timely manner
Promote employee engagement initiatives and a positive organizational culture
Ensure transparent communication between staff and the leadership team
Develop and maintain fair, equitable, and competitive compensation structures within budgetary guidelines
Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
Maintain accurate and secure personnel files and HR records in compliance with legal standards
Manage HR systems and databases for employee information, performance tracking, and compliance reporting
Support payroll administration in collaboration with finance staff, including changes in employment status and monthly payroll verification
Assist in preparation of HR documentation for audits and reporting requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Experience with payroll software
