Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the estimating department, including staffing, training, and performance evaluations
Develop and implement best practices, processes, and tools for accurate and efficient estimating
Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for projects of varying size and complexity
Review and approve all final estimates before submission to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify risks and opportunities
Work closely with the Revenue Team to align estimating strategies with business development goals
Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure estimates reflect realistic costs and schedules
Engage with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify scope and negotiate pricing
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor availability
Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
Utilize estimating software and digital tools to streamline workflows and improve accuracy
Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance department efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 10+ years of experience in estimating within the general contracting industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Proven experience with K-12, data centers, warehouses, semiconductor facilities, and commercial projects
Strong knowledge of bid proposal processes and contract negotiation
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to mentor and develop a high-performing estimating team
Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost control principles
