Maintenance Mechanic III

Responsibilities
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks, and repairs, ensuring that assigned systems within adult correction facilities and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner
Perform at the Journeyman Level in the General Construction/Carpentry Trades, and proficient at the Journeyman Level in at least one other trade such as, Fabrication and Welding, HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical
Perform general construction tasks such as Metal Stud Framing, Drywall Installation and Finishing, Hollow Metal Component Installation, Finish Hardware Installation, Concrete Forming and Finishing, Flooring Renovations, Roofing Renovations, Vinyl Siding Installation, Suspended Ceiling Installation, Painting, and some Masonry
Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems, perform Electrical repairs to lighting and building wiring, Plumbing repairs to potable and wastewater drainage systems
Supervising of a semi-skilled and unskilled inmate labor work force to assist with the completion of tasks
Qualification
Required
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs
Perform at the Journeyman Level in the General Construction/Carpentry Trades
Proficient at the Journeyman Level in at least one other trade such as Fabrication and Welding, HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical
Perform general construction tasks such as Metal Stud Framing, Drywall Installation and Finishing, Hollow Metal Component Installation, Finish Hardware Installation, Concrete Forming and Finishing, Flooring Renovations, Roofing Renovations, Vinyl Siding Installation, Suspended Ceiling Installation, Painting, and some Masonry
Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems
Perform Electrical repairs to lighting and building wiring
Perform Plumbing repairs to potable and wastewater drainage systems
Supervise a semi-skilled and unskilled inmate labor work force
Must have a valid NC Driver's License or the ability to obtain an NC Driver's License within 30 days of hire
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
Two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F
