Responsibilities

Claim Trainees learn to perform the required analysis, investigation and claim handling functions, enabling them to make appropriate recommendations involving claim strategy, management, and resolution
The Claim Trainee Development Program includes a combination of activities aimed at providing the individual a full understanding of the claim department, as well as how it functions within the organization
The program includes networking and mentoring, as well as professional development and assignments including:
Business unit rotations across the Great American Insurance Group that involve claim handling, job shadowing, claims systems training, and special assignments, allowing for broad exposure to the organization
Obtaining the P&C Staff Adjuster License
Earning the preeminent claims designation, the Associate in Claims, from The Institutes
Participation in Great American University and Claim College seminars and workshops
Participation in Toastmasters to develop communication and public speaking skills
Structured networking opportunities to meet the people across Great American’s many business units and learn the different roles in the industry
Various reading assignments and self-study courses on a diverse range of insurance topics, providing a foundation of claims and general insurance knowledge

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Proven work track record through work experience, co-ops, or internships
Proven leadership through work experience, extracurricular activities, or civic involvement
Strong critical, analytical and investigative skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills

Preferred

3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration
Juris Doctorate and MBA graduates are encouraged to apply
