Principal Systems Studies Engineer
Kintec Search, Inc. is seeking a Principal Systems Studies Engineer to lead various power systems studies. The role involves executing complex transmission and distribution studies, applying simulation and modeling expertise, and managing all aspects of study execution while collaborating with global counterparts.
Responsibilities
Perform and lead studies including insulation coordination, harmonics, grounding, transient stability, and generator interconnection using tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, EMTP-RV, and others
Lead and execute complex transmission and distribution (T&D) power systems studies across electromagnetic transients, transient stability, grounding, protection, and grid modernization
Apply your expertise in simulation, modeling, and control design to evaluate FACTS, HVDC, converter-based resources, and renewable energy systems
Execute studies on distributed energy resources, battery storage, and grid planning using CYME, Synergi, ETAP, and Plexos
Manage all aspects of study execution: scope, strategy, schedule, budget, resource planning, and reporting
Automate and enhance simulation models using programming tools like MATLAB, Python, and C++
Lead customer proposal development and technical report delivery, ensuring high-quality, accurate documentation
Present technical findings internally and externally; author white papers and conference presentations
Collaborate with internal divisions and global counterparts to support product application and equipment design parameters
Provide technical mentorship and promote the effective use of engineering tools and processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); Master's or PhD preferred
Minimum 7 years of experience in utility planning, power systems consulting, or T&D application engineering
Advanced expertise in electric power system modeling, operation, and control
Proven experience with industry-standard tools including PSCAD, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, ASPEN, CAPE, and economic analysis software (PROMOD, MAPS)
Proficiency in data analysis and automation using MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar
Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory bodies (IEEE, NERC, IEC, NESC, CIGRE)
Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
