Responsibilities

Provides technical advice, providing guidance to AOC management, employees, and applicants on issues impacting individuals with disabilities
Manages a caseload of complex reasonable accommodation requests, within established time frames to include accommodating an employee in their current position
Responsible for providing expert advice and leadership in carrying out agency policies and programs of nondiscrimination and affirmative employment
Performs special assignments and projects for the Deputy Director, utilizing expert knowledge of ADA, other disability rights laws and the AOC policies, regulations, and guidelines
Ensures the recommendations to the agency’s disability employment programs are consistent with established laws, rules, and regulations
Drafts, formulates, amends, revises, and prepares operating policies and guidelines that address the collection and analysis of workforce data
Provides advice to management and staff on approaches to promote disability awareness
Coordinates, develops, and provides disability related training as necessary
Drafts correspondence to the employee, management official and treating physicians, communicating to all parties the necessary information to ensure processing of requests for reasonable accommodation and accessibility
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

You must be able to pass a drug test
Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs
You must meet the definition of specialized experience
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in Federal service
Specialized experience includes the following (the applicant must meet a minimum of four (4) specialized experience qualifications):
Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of laws, equal employment opportunity policy and procedures, rules, regulations, and precedent legal and administrative decisions related to personnel management
Demonstrated skills in fact-finding, investigative, and analytical techniques requiring decisions in interpreting varied and complex factual situations in the context of the requirements of laws, regulations, or policies
Experience developing, managing, implementing, and evaluating EEO Reasonable Accommodation program
Experience identifying barriers to reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities including management policies and practices to eliminate barriers to enhance employment opportunities
Experience interpreting and applying guidelines in the context of employee requests for reasonable accommodation/accessibility
