Responsibilities

Support the coordination and implementation of assistive technology services for students with disabilities

Assist with conducting initial need assessments and gathering information to support academic accommodation planning

Help students learn to use adaptive equipment, software, and accessibility tools tailored to their individual needs, including programs such as JAWS, ZoomText, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and Read&Write, as well as devices like CCTV magnifiers, FM systems, and Livescribe Smartpens

Maintain and organize the Assistive Technology Center, including scheduling, equipment setup, and troubleshooting

Collaborate with advisors and specialists to support the delivery of academic and career guidance services

Monitor students' use of assistive resources and provide basic orientation, training, or referrals for further training

Liaise with faculty and IT staff when assistive technology support is required in the classroom, testing environments, library, or within other areas of the campus

Maintain inventory of assistive devices and request updates or replacements as needed

Assist the testing center staff with testing-related tasks

Perform other duties related to activities at the center as requested by the supervisor

Required

Baccalaureate degree (Master's Preferred) in related fields with a minimum of 2 years of experience within Disability Service or related field

Understanding the needs of students with disabilities, Assistive hardware and software, and having excellent Organizational and Communication Skills

Have Computer (Word, Excel, etc.) Skills

Preferred

Proficiency with assistive technologies such as JAWS, ZoomText/Fusion, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and Kurzweil 3000

Strong communication and training skills to work one-on-one with students and collaborate with faculty and staff

Technical troubleshooting abilities and familiarity with both Windows and Mac operating systems
