Sr. Design Engineer

They are seeking a Sr. Design Engineer responsible for executing new product project activities, coordinating with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager, and developing electromechanical concepts for future product platforms.

Responsibilities

Within the project parameters, the incumbent will be required to apply electrical and mechanical engineering techniques, analysis skills and Six Sigma design tools to ensure product function and quality
Act in support or as the program and project team leader, consistent with Tri•Mark•’s product line plan strategies, ensuring that support of programs and projects are completed in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner and that progress is made within the work group
Works within work group to develop plans and strategies to support programs and projects for new products to support Tri•Mark•’s growth goals
Apply to CAD layouts customer requirements, project/product specifications, finish requirements and pre-determined standards in order to deliver accurate information to the stakeholders enabling them to make efficient, timely and correct product decisions. Support the collection and incorporate quality, warranty, and ongoing product issues, building a knowledge base for successful design of new products
Support research of materials, supplier’s capabilities and manufacturing processes in order to determine best design for performance and cost effectiveness. Further cost analysis to be conducted on multiple concepts in order to implement optimal solution into production
Lead the preparation of rapid prototypes, assembled models, mockups, support drawings, technical literature, and installation guides to support the procurement, advertising, marketing and sales efforts while supporting the team in minimizing Tri•Mark•’s liability. At times assist as a backup for rapid prototype machine builds (3DP) as a backup for the assigned Sr Design Engineer when they are out of the office
Represent and support the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager and Project Engineers internally and on project teams in their absence to ensure ongoing communication between departments and team members
Assist in the training and orientation of new products for TriMark engineering, sales, manufacturing, and purchasing to ensure all details of designs and drawings are created in a manner that promotes project success. The position shall support other departments and their efforts in a positive manner to enhance productive work environment
Prepare design layouts, BOM, CAD models, layout, detail, assembly, support drawings to ensure design intent and completion of product designs
Works effectively with existing and potential customers, attends trade shows as required to obtain or provide input concerning new products
The position should be available to make additional design suggestions for new or existing Tri•Mark• products, and support workgroups in their application efforts for new products
Monitors and recommends continuous improvement ideas in the new product development process and other areas of TriMark
Complete design layouts, BOM, and drawing content for products recently released, to aid in effective communication of design intent by communicating and initiating engineering change notices as needed for components, assemblies, and support drawings to ensure that design intent is properly communicated
Participate in brainstorming and generate concepts for new ideas for the growth of Tri•Mark•’s product line
Responsible for storage of data into Product Data Management system for managing projects and CAD data, as well as maintaining project web repository
This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS
Responsible to perform his or her job functions in a manner that supports Tri•Mark•'s mission, vision and values in order for the company to attain its strategic and growth goals

Entry level Sr. Design Engineer
On-site position in New Hampton, IA
Responsible for executing new product project activities and completing tasks in coordination with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager
Interact closely with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager and team members of New Products as well as other departments and groups at Tri•Mark• Corporation
Electrical and Mechanical engineering tools and computer modeling skills will be frequently used in this position
Responsible for longer range concept development for future product platforms in anticipation for subsequent company needs combining electrical and mechanical solutions into electromechanical concepts
Support and complete program and project deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner to fulfill customer and/or TriMark product development goals
Perform mechanical engineering analysis to support existing products and develop new concepts to improve functionality, reduce costs, increase performance, and simplify manufacturability of resulting products
Responsible for brainstorming and support of innovative new product design
Support research of marketing, technical, economic and manufacturing feasibility for new ideas
Help organize, prototype, and build brainstormed concepts into a marketable solution supporting marketing and strategy meetings
Support and help facilitate program and project management tasks for specific customers
Investigate different materials, purchased components, and manufacturing processes
Conduct further cost evaluations on resulting concepts to determine project financials, including return on investments (ROI)
Develop, prototype, and evaluate multiple concepts for performance, cost effectivity, and market acceptance
Emphasize strong teamwork and effective communication with Procurement, Product Management, internal manufacturing, suppliers and others
Ensure that appropriate program and project deliverables are completed to the standards prescribed by TriMark's product development process
Support and document program and project specifications, schedules, and cost plans
Identify potential risks and develop solutions to execute contingency plans as needed
Work with sales and customers to determine key elements of the project
Complete deliverables and contribute to customer satisfaction by developing technical literature and installation guidelines
Train necessary personnel on new product features, history, and installation
Communicate critical information to Product Managers, Account Managers, Field Sales Representatives, and other work groups
Apply electrical and mechanical engineering techniques and analysis skills to design activities
Understand and apply design requirements for electrical and mechanical specification during the design process
Consider elements such as material/finish selection, tolerance analysis, motion analysis, and inertial analysis
Ensure that layouts, drawings, prototypes, testing and tooling are completed in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner
Interact with other departments to coordinate project activities such as specification creation, DFMEA's, test plans, ISIR's, and PPAP's
Possess excellent communication skills, including both written and oral
Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
Some travel is required within the position
Make supplier calls, attend trade shows, and visit customers
Ability to logically organize and communicate both technical and non-technical information
Must be computer proficient and fully understand software applications necessary for the successful completion of job functions
