TEC Group, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated Engine Harness Development Engineer responsible for the design, prototype, and documentation of wiring harnesses for powertrain test cells. The role involves overseeing the build of harnesses, verifying operation, diagnosing issues, and ensuring compliance with specifications while collaborating with product development engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and document engine, transmission, and electrified powertrain wiring harnesses
Organize and oversee the build of harnesses (both in-house and outsourced to a supplier)
Check for errors and verify operation
Control inventory and diagnose/troubleshoot issues in the field
Ensure corrective actions are made when necessary
Read and interpret device transmittal information to design wiring harnesses for dynamometer testing
Interface with product development engineers to gather required electrical information
Work with technicians and third-party suppliers to ensure harnesses are built to specification
Document designs and maintain the drawing database

Required

Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
2+ years of relevant work experience
Strong background and hands-on experience in wiring requirements such as current, voltage, and electrical noise mitigation (proper grounding, shielding, twisted wiring)
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Ability to guide technicians with work orders and direction for repairing / modifying wire harnesses
Experience using MS Office and/or Google Suite applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

Masters degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
5+ years of relevant work experience
Experience in automotive and instrumentation wiring as well as experience with data acquisition systems and dynamometer operations
Experience with wiring and operation of battery electric and hybrid electric powertrain system
Experience with the repair / assembly of vehicles, engines, transmissions, etc
