The role focuses on advancing Schwab’s API & Service Architecture vision by creating guidance and mechanisms for capabilities development, while collaborating with business, product, and technology partners.

Champions architectural strategies across teams and enterprises
Leads enterprise architecture strategy through guidance, standards, and governance
Strong knowledge of both cloud and service mesh platforms and technologies (GCP, Anthos, Kubernetes, Istio)
Proficiency with middleware technologies, API gateway technologies and integration patterns including emerging Agent, MCP and LLM integration scenarios
Strong understanding of traffic management patterns and solutions spanning all layers of an architecture to achieve resiliency targets
Familiarity with DevOps tools (Github Actions) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Python, Terraform)
10+ years’ experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.g. horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience, recovery, security and privacy)
3+ years’ experience mitigating OWASP Top 10 API Security Risks
5+ years’ experience with cloud technologies and API management, preferably with knowledge of Enterprise API Management platforms
5+ years’ experience delivering services at scale to cloud platforms, preferably GCP
