Responsibilities
Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop discovery and investigation strategies
Coordinate case defense preparation with Claims Specialists
Prepare legal pleadings, motions, and responses to discovery requests
Attend court appearances as necessary
Prepare lawsuits for trial or arbitration
Provide mentorship and share legal knowledge with attorney colleagues
Ensure cost-effective case management and defense work
Respond promptly to "hotline " inquiries from the Claims Department
Assist trial attorneys with litigation reporting and case work-up at all stages
Comply with Defense Attorney Guidelines
Represent physicians at depositions in "Depo-only” cases as needed
Qualification
Required
J.D. degree required
Licensed to practice law in California
Minimum 3-6 years of medical malpractice litigation experience
Ability to work independently and efficiently
Strong mentoring and team-building skills with staff counsel
