Responsibilities
Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications
Read project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and work on a variety of construction projects
Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county and local roadway and bridge projects and municipal utility or infrastructure projects
Monitor and enforce quality standards and specifications
Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans and/or proposals on roadway and bridge projects
Verify plan quantities and calculations are within bid plans
Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner
Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work
Conduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate and reinforcing steel
Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Project Manager
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles
Experience with materials and lab testing
Experience with quality control testing and compliance specifications
Experience with standard testing and observation methods
Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
Understanding of construction or engineering services
Experience in performing quality control initiatives and performance testing
Skill in lab reporting, writing reports and maintaining records
Ability to manage projects with little/no supervision
Demonstrated ability of monitoring construction and demolition environments
Must be able to interact well with others
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather
Ability to provide status updates independently
Be quality-minded and client-focused
Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
Preferred
WVDOT/WVDOH large project experience is a strong plus
Transportation Engineering Technician (WVTRET) certification is a strong plus
2+ years of related experience is a plus
Construction inspection experience on WVDOT funded projects is a plus
Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience is a plus
Previous experience working for a testing company is a plus
Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction engineering services and inspection/testing is a plus
Experience with field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, structural steel and fireproofing, etc. is a plus
Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special inspections
