Public Health Analyst I - Limited Service

The Vermont Department of Health is currently seeking to hire a Public Health Analyst I in the Research, Epidemiology and Evaluation Unit. This analyst will be responsible for analyzing data related to the health of incarcerated individuals and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Vermont, aiming to spread information and awareness of these public health issues.

Law Enforcement

Responsibilities

Conduct epidemiological analyses of public health and demographic data
Provide interpretation of data
Write reports, summaries and briefing documents
Give data-related presentations
Respond to internal and external data requests
Provide technical assistance regarding the utility and meaning of the data
Support annual grant writing and reporting
Perform other duties as requested

Required

Master's degree or higher in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health or a social sciences discipline, including 6 credits in statistics at the graduate level
Bachelor's degree in statistics, a health-related or social sciences discipline, including 12 college credits in statistics, research or computer sciences, and 6 of these credits must be in statistics AND one (1) year or more of professional level work in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data
Associate's degree in a public health, health, scientific or informatics field AND two (2) years or more of experience in research, statistics, informatics or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data
Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position
In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates

Preferred

Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, statistics, or related social sciences discipline, including at least six credits in statistics
