Responsibilities
Manage real property tax engagements for energy and utility clients, including renewables, independent power producers, distributed generation, and energy storage operators
Review and apply appraisal reports to support valuation, assessment challenges, and compliance strategies
Prepare and oversee annual property tax filings, bill review, payments, audits, and assessment appeals
Support negotiation, compliance, and administration of PILOT and similar agreements
Develop property tax projections and support planning for greenfield development, repowering, and expansion projects
Lead due diligence efforts for acquisitions, divestitures, and project development activities
Coordinate and mentor project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client service
Partner with clients on multi-state and national property tax matters, navigating varying regulatory environments
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in real property tax management related to energy or utility assets
Strong background in valuation and assessment of energy, infrastructure, or utility property for state and local tax purposes
Experience interpreting appraisal analyses and managing audits, appeals, and compliance processes
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional engagements and client relationships
Preferred
Prior exposure to M&A due diligence, litigation support, or expert testimony is a plus
Familiarity with regional energy markets and regulatory frameworks preferred
CPA or law license not required for candidates with substantial relevant experience
