Senior Designer, Brand Marketing

Boston Globe Media is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Designer, Brand Marketing to lead design initiatives and support marketing activations across their portfolio of brands. This role is central to elevating brand identity and delivering creative concepts that drive awareness, engagement, subscriptions, and loyalty across all channels.

Responsibilities

Partner with Creative Director, Brand Marketing to ideate and design integrated campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, subscriptions, and drive loyalty across Boston Globe Media brands
Provide design support for marketing initiatives including brand campaigns, events, partnerships, sales collateral, and digital activations
Contribute to brainstorming sessions and concept development for cross-platform marketing efforts
Translate marketing strategies into compelling visual storytelling, while ensuring alignment with campaign objectives
Execute various creative deliverables across multiple channels including digital, social, print, etc
Perform photo editing and retouching as needed for campaign and promotional assets (e.g., retouching, background cleanup, compositing, resizing)
Ensure all creative is visually polished, on-brand, and optimized for its platform
Leverage and recommend creative tools to maximize efficiencies across projects
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously across brands, balancing deadlines and shifting priorities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including editorial, product, and partnerships teams—to align creative execution with business goals
Maintain organized design files, assets, and workflows to ensure efficiency and consistency
Uphold and evolve the distinct visual identity of each Boston Globe Media property while ensuring consistency across the portfolio
Deliver creative solutions that are on brand, on time, and on budget
Present creative concepts and campaign work to leadership and cross-functional teams

Required

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an agency or in-house design setting
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of typography, layout, and visual storytelling
Proven ability to deliver successful creative solutions across diverse formats, including print, digital, social, and environmental design (e.g., trade shows, events)
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting creative concepts
Digital Portfolio for Review - required
A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment

Preferred

Experience working across multiple brands or within a media organization is a plus
Experience working in video is also a plus
