Underwriter Specialist-National Accounts

Sentry is one of the largest and financially strongest mutual insurance companies in the United States. In this role, you will apply underwriting policies and procedures to evaluate the acceptability of submitted or existing business, working closely with sales personnel to underwrite, price, and program policies and accounts.

Responsibilities

Use manuals, established procedures, and information collected works on the more complex underwriting assignments and refer business outside of authority limit
Be responsible for underwriting of the more complex, larger accounts and reinsurance placements
Evaluate established procedures for effectiveness and recommend change
Attend sales meetings to meet and confer with Sales Representatives/Account Managers in pursuing new accounts
Train other underwriters, give presentations, and conduct training on underwriting procedures

Required

Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years of related work experience with previous insurance underwriting experience
Demonstrated knowledge of specific product line insurance concepts and terminology
Effective analytical, human relations, and communication skills

Preferred

Completion or in the process of taking Insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU
