Maintenance Mechanic III

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. They are seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III to join the Mountain Regional Maintenance Team, focusing on general preventative maintenance and repairs at the Western Correctional Center for Women.

Responsibilities

Completing general preventative maintenance, generator repairs & service and like-in-kind Force Account system replacements
Working independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor
Reading and interpreting blueprints
Performing other assigned duties

Qualification

Journeyman level constructionElectrical distribution systemsNational Electric Code (NEC)Reading schematicsPreventative maintenanceGenerator repairsBlueprint interpretationEPA certificationSoft skills

Required

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience in one or more journeyman level construction trade skills within concrete, masonry, carpentry, site work, painting, finishes, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and/or equipment operation
Demonstrated experience in the installation of primary and secondary electrical conduit and circuitry for electrical distribution systems
Demonstrated experience with standard testing equipment to diagnose electrical components
Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
Experience with reading schematics and blueprints
Experience with the tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used within the general construction trades relating to the maintenance of buildings

Preferred

May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F
