TEGNA Inc. is a media company that provides trusted local news and services. They are seeking a dynamic Sports Anchor/Reporter to join their team, responsible for delivering sports content across multiple platforms and engaging with the community through impactful storytelling.

Responsibilities

Anchor and report sports content across all 13News Now platforms, including linear newscasts, streaming shows, 13News Now+, mobile, digital, and social media

Lead sports coverage, including daily updates, game-day coverage, analysis, and enterprise reporting

Pitch, write, and produce creative, character-driven sports stories reflective of Hampton Roads’ unique culture and sports history

Deliver authentic, energetic, and informative live shots from stadiums, training facilities, community events, and breaking sports news scenes

Engage audiences across social platforms with mobile-first content, including shorts, quick updates, behind-the-scenes insights, and real-time fan interaction

Collaborate with producers, reporters, and digital teams to plan coverage, specials, and long-form storytelling

Shoot and edit video in the field when needed

Represent 13News Now at sports events, station initiatives, and community engagements

Perform additional special projects and duties including news if needed

Required

1-3 years of on-air sports reporting or anchoring experience in a smaller television market

Proven experience covering a major NFL franchise and college, and high school sports teams

Strong writing, reporting, and live performance skills

Demonstrated success engaging audiences on social, streaming, and digital platforms

Ability to shoot and edit video, proficiency with newsroom and digital content systems

Preferred

BA/BS in Journalism, Communications, Broadcast, or related field preferred
