United Way Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) is a social change organization focused on improving education, income, and health for North Texans. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for soliciting major gifts, stewarding donor relationships, and cultivating new sponsorship opportunities to support UWMD's community impact initiatives.

Responsibilities

Cultivating major gift relationships and soliciting gifts with the ability to close five and six-figure gifts, personally and effectively
Maintaining annual gift support for a portfolio of current and prospective donors
Identifying UWMD program and/or event sponsorship opportunities aligned with corporate and individual donor goals. Followed by solicitation and planning to effectively support and deliver on sponsorship commitments
Developing cultivation and solicitation strategies for prospects and donors within the assigned portfolio, collaborating as appropriate with the Resource Development team and Leadership
Seeking out donor interests and passions for volunteer involvement and giving
Developing a high-quality donor experience through regular personalized correspondence, professional proposals, and timely acknowledgements
Executing individual plans for each donor tailored to their preferences and giving goals based on giving history, relationships, and the organization's knowledge of the donor's giving potential
Partnering with Leadership on solicitations by providing prospect briefings, strategic guidance, and assistance with donor communications
Partnering with Leadership Giving to develop a portfolio of workplace Tocqueville Society members and prospects with a high likelihood for transformational gifts
Actively engaging donors and prospects through established UWMD events and year-round engagement activities. Meeting outreach and personal visits metrics as established
Tracking and reporting on progress and projections toward financial goals
Collaborating with Prospecting to implement prospect management strategies utilizing CRM
Maintaining an understanding of industry standards regarding donor stewardship, solicitation, confidentiality, gift crediting, and financial principles

Required

Proven experience in major gifts fundraising with the ability to close five and six-figure gifts
Strong understanding of philanthropy and its impact in Dallas
Ability to cultivate and steward relationships with prospective donors and sponsors
Experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors
Excellent communication skills for personalized correspondence and professional proposals
Ability to execute individual donor plans tailored to preferences and giving goals
Experience in collaborating with leadership on solicitations and donor communications
Ability to engage donors through events and year-round activities
Experience in tracking and reporting on financial goals
Familiarity with CRM systems for prospect management
Understanding of donor stewardship, solicitation, confidentiality, gift crediting, and financial principles

Preferred

Experience in working with corporate and individual donors
Background in nonprofit management or resource development
Knowledge of the local nonprofit landscape in North Texas
Experience in volunteer engagement and fundraising strategies
