The manager will oversee activities in the tool room and molding process, focusing on optimizing uptime and quality while managing departmental budgets and workload priorities.

Responsibilities
Champion the safety vision and “Journey to Zero” by promoting safe behaviors and addressing unsafe conditions
Lead 6S initiatives to maintain a clean, organized production floor and eliminate waste using visual management tools
Provide leadership and support to Mold Makers and Mold Maintenance Technicians
Coordinate tool room and set-up supervisors’ activities with the manufacturing team. Supporting the team to Flex labor between tool-room and setup areas based on workload demands
Works with the team to optimize molding processes for great efficiency and to ensure product quality
Providing technical leadership and mentoring to technicians. Documenting existing processes and procedures. Developing new manufacturing processes as required
Plan and conduct Gemba walks with the production team
Six Sigma leadership: drive and collaborate on process improvement efforts employing the DMAIC framework (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), design of experiments (DOE), and regression analysis to achieve data-driven improvements
Provide technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Lead initiatives in cost reduction, process improvement, and employee training
Recommend upgrades, repairs, and replacements for tool room & injection molding equipment and suppliers
Participate in design reviews for new tooling and improvements to existing tooling
Set clear objectives, priorities, and goals for team members
Monitor departmental performance against goals and budget adherence
Identify and implement solutions to improve departmental processes, systems, and policies
Frequently interact with managers and peer groups to coordinate projects and schedules
Develop and maintain training materials and processes for personnel and equipment
Hire, coach, and develop employees to increase engagement and performance
Identify employees for promotion or additional training, address performance or procedural challenges
Support company vision and strategic initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field
5–10 years of experience in tool room and molding operations
Strong technical knowledge of tooling, mold design, mold setting, and process development
5 + years of Management experience
Ability to work from blueprints, CAD models, diagrams or samples to very close tolerances
Proficient in use and navigation of Windows operating system and computer aided manufacturing programs in a networked environment
Proficient in use of one or more of these software tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Solid Works, Solid Edge, Pro-E)
Preferred
Remains calm under pressure; Strong decision-making skills in response to high pressure situations
A high degree of mechanical and technical skill and a comprehensive knowledge of tooling and injection molding processes
Familiar with injection molding design and fabrication technology
Familiar with materials, modifiers and additives, used in the injection molding process, including the following: Polycarbonate, Polyamide (Nylon), Polyoxymethylene (POM, Acetal), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polypropylene (HDPE / LDPE), Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), Impact modifiers, Clarifying agents, UV stabilizers
Proven change agent: skill with enabling change, strong influencing abilities particularly with frontline teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
Ability to establish and maintain high level relationships with suppliers
Proven ability to implement process management, value stream execution, and continuous improvement activities
Strong verbal and written communications skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills is preferred
Demonstrated results with Kanban process's and implementation strategies
Must be able to successfully use inspection devices (i.e. microscopes, calipers, gauge pins, optical comparator, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers or employees of the organization
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
