Responsibilities

Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy legal advice and counsel
Manages multiple complex matters simultaneously
Retains and supervises/manages outside counsel on select matters
Anticipates internal/external business and regulatory issues and provides applicable legal advice
Reviews and revises legal documents, such as regulatory applications, supporting testimony, legal briefs, and proposed orders
Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes, including energy services agreements/special contracts
Assists in advising and training clients on legal issues, including preparation of clients to serve as regulatory witnesses
Communicates with clients regarding status updates, including on sensitive matters

Required

Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school

Licensed to practice law in at least one state in the U.S. and a member in good standing with the state bar upon hire

Preferred

Experience in the utility industry or other regulated industry is strongly preferred
Experience at a law firm, state agency, or publicly traded corporation
Experience with regulatory compliance, enterprise records management, emergency response, or business continuity
Has significant experience and subject matter expertise in utility law, with an emphasis on regulatory filings and regulatory litigation before administrative agencies
Strong relationships with key stakeholders in Indiana
Will typically have at least 5 years of experience
