ANALYST I

The California Department of Developmental Services is responsible for providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Analyst I will perform analytical tasks, monitor projects, and assist the Branch Manager in operational activities while maintaining confidentiality and building an understanding of departmental operations.

Responsibilities

Performs less complex analytical tasks and monitors and tracks projects, initiatives, and other assignments in support of the Branch Manager
Assists the Branch Manager in a variety of operational and program activities
Works with Division leadership and other staff, and external parties by relaying critical information, analyzing and following up to resolve outstanding issues

Required

Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and build a broad understanding of the operations, programs, policies, and activities under the Branch Manager
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length
What is your understanding of and/or experience with the California service delivery system for persons with developmental disabilities?
Describe your demonstrated ability to collect, organize, maintain, analyze, and communicate information provided by various resources to achieve the organization's vision
If you are using list eligibility from an on-line exam to qualify for this position, you MUST include with your application any documentation (i.e., copy of transcript, degree, license, etc.) to verify meeting the MQ's or you may not be considered for the position
The MQs will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
Completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by the Final Filing Date in order to be considered
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available)

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)
Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov
All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and is a narrative discussion of how the candidate's education, training, experience, and skills meet the minimum and desirable qualifications and qualify them for the position
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification
Official transcripts may be required upon appointment
If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate may be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position

Preferred

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and trends of public and business administration, including management and support staff services such as budgeting, personnel, and management analysis
Formal and informal aspects of the administrative, legislative, and budget processes in California

Develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with Department staff and managers, the public, and other governmental agency staff

Analyze data and present ideas and information effectively
Review and edit written documents
