Technical Design Associate

Coach is a global fashion house founded in New York in 1941, part of the Tapestry portfolio. They are seeking a Technical Design Associate who will communicate technical information, maintain design standards, and resolve technical issues while collaborating with the product development team.

Responsibilities

Communicate technical information to achieve both design intent and product function: from sampling stages to commercialization
Maintain all elements of a Design Card through the development process: clean full-size sketches, accurate dimensions, material information, print placement, pattern layouts, technique files, etc
Review samples for corrections including aesthetics, dimensions, hand feel, functionality, and workmanship
Create and maintain full-scale technical construction sketches and accurate information on design cards
Maintain established standards, details (including hardware), and integrity of the product
Building silhouette templates to follow for commercialization
Create CADs for color options to support design and merchandising needs
Identify, clearly define, and resolve technical issues, while partnering with PD team to ensure comments are accurately communicated

Required

3+ years work experience in technical design with focus on handbags/leathergoods
Thorough understanding of the design & development process from inception through production, including product construction and engineering
Proficient knowledge of industry construction standards and manufacturing, including materials (hardware, leather, fabric)
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; ability to CAD in fast-paced environment
Keen attention to detail, initiative, and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
Able to adhere to tight deadlines

Preferred

Excellent problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with pattern makers and overseas partners
Have a positive attitude and team-player mentality
